Summary: Can't import Sony NEX-VG10 footage into Premiere Pro CS5/CS6? Can’t play or edit Sony NEX-VG10 MTS videos smoothly in Premiere Pro CS5/CS6? In this article, we introduce the easy solution to you.
What's your editing program for handling and editing the Sony NEX-VG10 AVCHD recordings? I use Mac and prefer Adobe Premiere Pro, but Sony NEX-VG10 AVCHD output MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) is hard to be perfectly recognized by some video editing software like FCP, FCE, iMovie, Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc. If you are considering purchasing the Sony NEX-VG10, and also use Premiere Pro CS5/CS6 for editing, following questions that will help you decide:
1. We understand that Adobe Premiere Pro can import AVCHD - but apparently not all flavors work well. Has anyone used
2. Perhaps using a 3rd party converter is the better way to go? Any suggestion as to a good converter?
3. What are we going to lose in quality and time by needing to use the import or external converter?
YES! Importing Sony NEX-VG10 MTS files to Premiere Pro CS5/CS6 for editing on Mac is not so easy as VG10 users thought. According to our experience and other user's feedback, the recent version Premiere Pro CS5.5, CS6 still cannot support AVCHD well due to the video codec problem. Even if the Adobe can recognize your AVCHD footage, it still takes a relative long time to import the clips.
Another option is to use a 3rd party convert to convert the .mts files into MPEG-2 (mpg), that full compatible with Premiere Pro. Brorsoft
You can follow the guide on converting Sony NEX-VG10 AVCHD to Premiere Pro on Mac
Step 1: After the launching the Sony AVCHD to MPEG-2 Converter, load your MTS files to it from your camcorder. Join several mts clips ticking the “Merge into one” box.
Step 2: Click Format on the main interface and choose Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas> MPEG-2(*.mpg) as the best video format for Premiere Pro.
Step 3: You’d better click Settings to adjust the video size, frame rate for easy editing.
Tip: For MPEG-2(*.mpg) output format, 30fps(NTSC) or 25fps(PAL) is the highest frame rate which can be recognized in adobe Premier Pro. If you want to keep the original frame rate, pls choose another output format- Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas --> WMV (VC-1) (*.wmv).
Step 4: Click Convert button to start to
When the conversion is finished, you can import the converted Mpg videos to Premiere Pro CS5/CS6 for editing without interlaces, choppy or any other problem on Mac.
