Q1: Need help with Go Pro Hero 3 and Premiere Pro CS6
I recently acquired PP CS6. I put my clip (30 seconds long) and I go to preview while editing, for the first 1.5 seconds it is fine but then it is very choppy. The audio is fine but the video does not play smoothly. When I save and process the video it is fine. It is frustrating to try to edit video this way. I'm sure I'm missing a step when creating the project but I haven't used Premiere Pro since CS6. This is only happening with Go Pro Hero 3 videos, any of my other cameras are fine. Any ideas? Thanks
Q2: rendering video problem
I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 and I got some experience with it. I started with importing the video material(1280x720 60FPS) from my GoPro HD Hero2 Camera. While editing I obviously used the video preview window to see the result of my editing and the video quality was fine! Time to render. After the rendering process was done the video quality turned out really bad! I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong!
Well, as we all know, the GoPro cameras record in MPEG-4 and outputs its files as .MP4 files (the container). Files are compressed using the h.264 codec. So the files you are getting out of GoPro HD are suited to be delivered as is, which is usually not what you want. The GoPro HD being an “always-on” type of camera worn on your helmet, attached to your bike, surfboard or other, you usually end up with long sequences of footage you then need to edit down. Since the MP4 codec is a final delivery codec it is not one you want to use for editing. To import GoPro HD footage to Premiere Pro CS5/CS6 for editing without problems, the easy workaround is to convert GoPro MP4 to a more editing-friendly format, such a Premiere's MPEG-2. For this purpose, this article outlines how to convert GoPro camera files for editing in Premiere Pro smoothly.
